The timing of when information is given to someone is crucial. This is not a specific behavioral or cognitive bias, but it is important to consider when trying to understand the barriers humans face in doing an action. Giving information too early or too late - compared to when a person should make a decision or take an action - makes it harder to make a decision.
Examples:
When a farmer buys fertilizer, they are given precise information on when to use fertilizer and how much of it to use. Months later when they start to apply it, they don’t remember the details and apply it wrong.
Important to consider:
Timing of information is important, but so is the clarity and ease of understanding the information. Giving well-timed but confusing information is not an improvement!
